Today in KISStory - 1979
The 'Dynasty' tour kicks-off in Lakeland, FL.
The stage for the KISS Dynasty Tour was a huge production. The stage itself cost $1, 000, 000 in 1979. The stage had four ramps: Two in the front and two on the sides. Four lifts would bring each KISS member to the raised part of the stage.
The DYNASTY Tour featured some of KISS’ most flamboyant costumes to date and several “new” special effects including Gene flying up to the lighting truss during “God of Thunder” and Ace’s chaser light guitar, which had knobs that made the lights on the guitar chase in different ways. Another Ace guitar also flew up to the lighting truss during his “2000 Man” solo.
The set list included songs from each of the first 7 KISS studio albums as well Paul's “Move On” and Ace’s “New Your Groove”. Both Gene’s "Radioactive" and Peter’s "Tossin' And Turnin'" were also performed earlier in the tour.
