KISS - New Album, New Tour
Kiss has announced the release of a new album, as well as the dates for their 'Kiss Alive 35' North American tour. Continuing to prove that the older bands are staying current and relevant.
Kiss is continuing the album anniversary trend. Recently, veteran bands have been playing hit albums, on tour, in their entirety, to celebrate landmark anniversaries. Judas Priest did 'British Steel'; Motley Crue did 'Dr Feelgood'; Ratt did 'Out Of The Cellar'; Roger Waters did 'Dark Side Of The Moon'; and now Kiss will be performing the classic album 'Alive!'. The tour will kick off in, where else, Detroit Rock City, on September 25, 2009. The concerts will feature Kiss' trademark pyrotechnics, new costumes and a new stage set. The band will play for 2 1/2 hours, and fans will hear all their major hits. Buckcherry will be the opener.
Gene Simmons commented on the new tour: "For 35 years, Kiss raised the bar for what a Rock concert should really be. This year is no different - all new, all killer . . .all Kiss! The master's class in Rock is in session. Kiss rules. Oh yeah!"
Kiss will also be playing songs from their forthcoming album, 'Sonic Boom'. 'Sonic Boom' is Kiss' first record of new material in 11 years. It will be released on October 6, 2009 exclusively at Walmart and Sam's Club. This band always did know about marketing and business. 'Sonic Boom' was produced by guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley, and is part of a three piece set. The second disc is a re-recorded greatest hits CD, and the third is a live DVD from Argentina shot on the current tour.
Gene Simmons commented on the new album: "'Sonic Boom' may be the best record we've done since 'Destroyer'! It is 'Rock And Roll Over' meets 'Love Gun'".
Kiss' current line-up is as follows: Gene Simmons - bass and vocals; Paul Stanley - guitar and vocals; Tommy Thayer - Guitar; and Eric Singer (Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Badlands, etc.) - drums.
