OSHAWA -- Waiting in line since 1:30 a.m., Oshawa resident Jeff McRae was glad to hear his long night had paid off.
"Awesome. first-row floors," he shouted to the other two dozen or so people waiting in line at the General Motors Centre to purchase tickets to the Oct. 7 KISS show.
"We tried to get tickets the first time but they were sold out."
A new block of tickets became available for sale on Wednesday morning.
The first block of tickets hit the box office on Sept. 12 and GM Centre marketing manager Cortney Ager said the tickets were sold out in minutes.
"We always tell people if we're sold out, we're really never sold out. You just need to keep checking back," she said.
An e-mail was sent out Tuesday night regarding the new tickets available for sale.
The tickets, which were all for seats in the first 10 rows on the floor, had been saved by the promoter to be sold as VIP tickets for $1,100 each. Those tickets included a meet and greet with the band and credit to be used to buy merchandise online.
"Once the promoter felt that enough of the tickets out of those VIP tickets were gone, some of them didn't sell so they decided to release the rest to the public," Ms. Ager said.
The public tickets sold for the regular price of $84.50, but don't include the meet and greet or online credit.
Ian Fleming, of Whitby, waited for more than two hours with his dog Maggie for the box office to open.
He ended up with four tickets in the second row.
"I think it means a lot to Oshawa to have the band come here. Obviously they voted ... they have a lot of fans here so it's good that everyone is following through with their promise," he said.
"They promised to be No. 1 and they were and the band promised to come here and they are."
In April, the '70s glam rock band announced an online voting contest that would allow fans to determine stops on the band's upcoming tour. Oshawa finished in first place.
