Playing to sold-out shows came as no surprise given that the country remains one of the biggest markets in the world for KISS, who first toured there in 1980.
Playing tracks from his new album Anomaly plus a selection of KISS classics, including his biggest Australian KISS hit “Talk to Me,” Space Ace rolled out a stellar show that was a hit with both fans and the media. Drum Media declared, “Forget Gene Simmons’ tongue. Even without the Spaceman costume and makeup, for many dedicated fans, the sight of former axeman Ace Frehley in full flight is still perhaps the most iconic KISS image. The smoking Les Paul, the flamboyance, the one-of-a-kind voice and swagger all contributed to making him one of the original guitar heroes, and fans turned out in droves for this show at the (Sydney) Enmore Theatre…”
In other “Space” news, Frehley released a retrospective DVD, titled Ace Frehley: Behind the Player, on January 19 featuring rare photos and video footage, and guitar lessons on such classics as “Shock Me” and “Cold Gin.” The DVD also includes an all-star jam session featuring Frehley, George Lynch, John 5, Matt Sorum and others.
